Permanent Pacemaker
A permanent pacemaker is a small electronic device which is implanted under the skin near the shoulder by a specialist cardiologist. This procedure is performed at Epworth Hospital and usually requires an overnight stay. The pacemaker generates a reliable heartbeat where the patient's normal heartbeat is too slow or unpredictable.
